• Maria Angelica Linton

    Principal Scientist

Chemistry, Pfizer Global R&D, La Jolla, CA

Angelica Linton joined Agouron Pharmaceuticals in 1993 as an Associate Research Scientist in the department of Medicinal Chemistry and has been involved in several projects, including Calcineurin (immunosuppressants), AICARFT (cancer), HIV protease, HCV Polymerase (antiviral), RAF (cancer) and most recently the AR project (cancer). She is now a Principal Scientist at Pfizer and has since gone on to contribute to several publications and key patents. She has also served as a Director of the Fujimoto Foundation, Japan, as a reviewer of applications of brilliant students with limited economic status in El Salvador in order to award scholarships.

Ms Linton became a licensed pharmacist in El Salvador upon completion of a 5-year program at Universidad Salvadorena Alberto Masferrer in 1988. She then held several positions at Ancalmo Pharmaceuticals in San Salvador as a Research and Development Scientist associate and as Production Manager Associate in the Liquid, Injectable and Cosmetic Pharmaceutical Departments. She had the opportunity to continue her studies at Rice University, earning a Masters degree in Organic Chemistry in 1993.

    Key Areas of Research

I have participated in several therapeutic areas including oncology and antiviral diseases, participating on projects at various stages ranging from HTS triage, hit-to-lead all the way to late-stage clinical candidate selection.  I have contributed to two candidate compounds, one which is being actively evaluated in clinic for HCV.
