If we truly wish to improve healthcare outcomes, we must remember that people are more than protocols and numbers. We must think of people holistically. As patients, be empowered to make decisions about our healthcare with our families, physicians, and other healthcare providers. As people, enjoy life to the fullest – doing what we enjoy and thriving.
People are at the core of quality of life. Technology can help us access information, but we must be attuned to ethical and moral behaviors. We must also be diligent in ensuring that information is accurate and keep a critical eye on how healthcare is delivered to us. I also believe that health is more than medicine. Good health is personal.
I do hope that you enjoy my blogs. I know in writing and researching topics, I am learning a lot about how I can improve my own quality of life. I do hope in some small way I can help someone else improve theirs.
Currently, I am director of strategic communications for the External Medical Communications (EMC) group in Pfizer Medical supporting communications efforts, both internal and external, across EMC. I’ve also supported clinical trial processes through management of key documents required through Good Clinical Practice and served in a chief of staff capacity for US External Medical Affairs group.
Before joining Pfizer, I managed the clinical informatics team at Oxford Health Plans where I supported the building of a Special Management Company which created an episode of care reimbursement strategy.
I have served as the elected president of the American Health Information Management Association www.ahima.org and continue supporting the association in its diversity, consumer practice, and board alumni engagement efforts.
I am also on the Board of Directors of Arts Angels, Inc., a not for profit in support of visual and performing arts in our local public schools www.artsangelsinc.org
